What are free schools?
Free schools are funded by the government but aren’t run by the local council. They are run by voluntary organisations with the experience of setting up and running schools.
They were created by the Government as a way to increase the range of provision, address gaps in education provision and raise standards.
Why has the Ambitious about Autism Schools Trust decided to develop free schools?
The Ambitious about Autism Schools Trust believes every child has a right to an education which supports them to learn, thrive and achieve their full potential. With the right levels of both support and challenge at school, we know that they can go on to make a successful transition to adult life.
We are led by a team of passionate people who are passionate about education being the power to transform the life chances of children and young people with autism.
Ambitious about Autism bring a wealth of experience in pioneering educational provision for children and young people with autism for 20 years.
Our vision is for social and academic inclusion from as early an age as possible for our pupils with autism.
